This past Sunday was an exciting day for our Mini Club athletes as they hit the court for their very first tournament of the season. It was a day filled with a lot of hustle, fun, and valuable lessons, as our Galaxy, Imperial, Jedi, and Yoda teams gave it their all.
The morning kicked off with our Galaxy and Imperial teams taking on their competition. Imperial came out strong, battling their way to an impressive second-place finish! Galaxy fought hard, and while the wins didn’t come as easily, the team walked away with something just as important—growth. Both teams were getting two solid contacts and consistently getting the third contact over the net, which was fantastic to see in their first tournament! For some, it was about learning what being a great teammate really looks like. Others stepped into leadership roles, figuring out how to help their team when the pressure was on. These first tournaments are all about those lessons, and the Galaxy team made the most of it.
In the afternoon, it was time for the Jedi and Yoda teams to step up. For many of the Yoda players, this was their first taste of real tournament action, and they absolutely loved it! The excitement of playing in actual games and getting the feel of competition was an unforgettable experience for them. Both the Yoda and Jedi teams did a great job understanding serve receive and free ball receive, and they were hustling hard to the ball all day. Our Jedi team, as always, brought their energy and focus, finishing second in pool play. They gave everything they had in the silver bracket championship match, hustling and competing until the final whistle, even though they fell just short of the win. The effort and passion they showed out there was incredible!
Overall, it was a day filled with learning, growth, and plenty of fun for all of our Mini Club teams. Whether they were battling for a medal or simply soaking up the experience, every player walked away with new skills, new confidence, and memories to carry into the next tournament. We’re beyond proud of their hard work and can’t wait to see how they continue to develop throughout the season!
